BOARD OF DIRECTORS
After practicing law and raising three children, Karen joined Re:new in 2011. We cannot remember a time without her soft presence and powerhouse ideas. Wearing many hats, Karen turns chaos into beauty and infuses Re:new with a hearty welcome. Karen adores her family and spends weekends catching up with her three grown children and traveling with her husband.
Admitted to the Illinois Bar, Karen holds a BS in Political Science from Kent State University, and Juris Doctor, summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University.
A founding Board member, at Re:new, Holly finds a perfect marriage of her love of sewing and her love of ministering to women from other cultures. Holly is a master at cross-cultural relationship building. She's also a brilliant multi-tasker. She can teach a mean seam allowance lesson while learning the politics of The Kingdom of Bhutan. Holly always has a smile on her face and a baked good in her hand. In her non-existent spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, entertaining, and walking her dog.
Holly holds a BA in Christian Education from Wheaton College and an MA in Educational Ministries from the Wheaton College Graduate School.
A busy mom raising four active children, Lisa can often be found reading while waiting in the school pick-up line. She is also involved in several small women's groups at Wellspring Alliance Church where she enjoys encouraging and assuring women that they are not alone in their struggles. With her youngest child headed off to First grade in 2016, Lisa was looking for a way to reconnect with the "outside" world in a meaningful way, joining Renew's Board of Directors as the Treasurer. Lisa, her husband, and four children reside in Wheaton, IL.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Chicago and is a registered C.P.A.
A Midwest transplant, Sharon moved from North Carolina in the summer of 2013 bringing with her a passion for people and creativity. Sharon was inspired to join Re:new because she strongly believes in its mission to empower women through teaching a tangible skill-set coupled with the fulfillment that comes from creativity and craftsmanship. Sharon’s hospitable nature has given her the ability to build relationships and communities that draw people in and make all feel welcome. When not at Re:new, Sharon can be found chasing her two Golden Retrievers, trying to keep track of her four kids, or hunting down unique antiques with her husband.
Sharon holds a BA in Business Economics from Wheaton College.
A founding Board member, Martha always brings a peaceful presence to Re:new. During her career, Martha has enjoyed teaching, directing an international preschool, teaching ESL classes, and sewing professionally from her home. She is humbled by the ways God has used Re:new to weave together her passions of sewing, teaching, cross-cultural ministry, and teamwork. It is Martha's prayer that God uses Re:new to touch the lives of even more refugee women while helping the greater community understand the refugee journey. When not at Re:new, Martha travels extensively with her husband and enjoys stand-up paddleboarding.
Martha holds a BA in Elementary Education from Wheaton College and Graduate studies at Harvard Divinity School.
